BDP 493/503 lipid stain for lipid droplets labeling
BDP 493/503 is a fluorescent lipophilic dye used for specific labeling and tracking of lipid droplets in studies involving lipid metabolism. The dye is distributed in the nonpolar lipid droplet core, so it can be used to detect lipid droplets in both fixed and live cells by confocal microscopy. Compared with Nile Red, BDP 493/503 has a narrow emission spectrum, which makes it an ideal fluorophore for multi-labeling experiments. Being known for staining neutral lipids, BDP 493/503 is also commonly utilized in flow cytometry. The fluorochrome is excited by the blue laser (488 nm) and its emission peak is at 503 nm.
