Glycine-d2 is the deuterium-labeled glycine and is intended for use as an internal standard for LC-MS.

Glycine concentration is a good marker of nonketotic hyperglycinemia (genetic, inborn error of glycine metabolism). Nonketotic hyperglycinemia leads to glycine accumulation throughout the body due to a mutation in its cleavage enzyme system. A high level of glycine in the blood may also indicate propionic acidemia or methylmalonic acidemia.

Lower circulating glycine levels could be a marker of metabolic disorders associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLDs).

Glycine quantification by LC-MS could be performed most efficiently using glycine-d2 standard.
